Recommended Practices and Procedures

Emergency Planning


The recommended practices and procedures provided here is for information purposes only. So that you the building owner, business owner, property manager, health and safety representatives, etc., who are in control of assembly, detention, care, residential, business & personal services, mecantile, industrial and other facilities have a an idea on the recommended practices and procedures regarding fire emergency planning, which governs the International Version of the Building Fire Safety Planning System (BFSPS).

The recommended practices and procedures are provided for in the various parts of the BFSPS for fire emergency planning. They are excerts from various approved US Codes and Standards.

Application

General


1.    Unless otherwise specified, the owner should be responsible for carrying out the provisions of fire saftey, prevention and emergency planning in their building.


General Application

1.    The recommended practices and procedures should apply to all buildings containing 11 persons or more, if the building has a fire alarm system or the Authority Having Jurisdiction (Fire Department) requires you to have a plan:

2.    Despite Sentence (1), the recommended practices and procedures of emergency planning should also apply to the following buildings or premises:
(a)    containing 6 storeys or more (High Buildings), including storeys below grade,
(b)    subject to the provisions of outdoor tire storage yards,
(c)    subject to the provisions of fire prevention and protection for flammable and combustible liquids,
(d)    subject to the provisions for emergency planning of laboratories,
(e)    subject to the provisions of means of egress, or
(f)    used as a convalescent home or children's custodial home providing sleeping accommodation for more than 3 persons.
